Meet our Elders

Find your place in the church family at Calvary and we welcome you to meet our Leaders.

Pastor Ron Brown

I was born in southern California and raised mostly in Olympia, Washington. I came to faith in Jesus Christ as a young child and committed my life to full-time ministry during my later years in High School. I graduated from Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland Oregon, where I met and married my lovely wife Stephanie. Following college we moved to Dallas, Texas where I attended Dallas Theological Seminary. Six and a half years later, with four young sons, we moved to New England where I directed the youth ministry at a Christian camp and conference center. After four wonderful years of ministry we moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where I served as Youth Minister at Faith Bible Church.

The experiences of ministry in New England as well as in Oklahoma at a great Bible teaching church served as excellent preparation for the role of pastor at Calvary Bible Church where Stephanie and I have been since 2003. Most recently I have had the privilege of studying for a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching through the Master’s Seminary in Southern California. Calvary Bible Church is a great family of committed followers of Christ, and a wonderful place to worship and serve the Lord.

Chuck Bertoni, Elder

I am married to my beautiful wife Ginger and we were blessed with two children, Amber and Chad, who have blessed us with six grandchildren. I spent most of my adult life in the printing business and I retired eight years ago.

My love for God and His word is the cornerstone of my life. I believe God has given me time on this earth to share His word and blessings. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Prior to arriving in the Wood River Valley we spent over 30 years in Huntington Beach, California in a small community called Fountain Valley. Ginger and I were actively involved in our church there, Huntington Beach Evangelical Free Church which is now known as Beach City Church. In our years there we served as Sunday School teachers, greeters, and I on the Elder Board, Trustee board, and as chairman of the elder board.

We came to call Calvary Bible Church home about five years ago and have grown to love these people. I have been given the opportunity to serve on the elder board with the current elders and am humbled to serve with such fine men. They love God’s Word and they love the people of this church family.

My Goal for CBC is the same as all the elders on this board. By making disciples who love God, love one another, and live to reach the world for God and in this process the Word of God is our guide.

Mick Mummert, Elder

My wife, BettyAnn, and I have been at Calvary Bible Church since 2006. I have served on the Board of Elders here since 2011. My goals for Calvary Bible Church are to glorify God in all His Holiness and present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don’t know Him. I can help do this in my capacity as an Elder through servant leadership and sound doctrinal teaching. I am involved in the youth ministry, presently helping with the middle school and high school groups known as CBY.  I also enjoy leading evening Bible studies and adult Sunday School classes. I have been the church treasurer for the past several years. I like to spend time road, mountain and tandem bike riding along with attending as many of my six grandchildren’s activities as possible.

Douglas Stouffer, Elder

My family and I have been attending Calvary Bible Church since the fall of 1999.  I currently work for Blaine County School District as a Mathematics Teacher at Wood River High School.  My wife, Susan, and I reside in Bellevue where we raise our six children.  During the summers our family likes to explore the Wood River valley with either bikes or hiking.  In the winters we like to ski at the resort and occasionally put the snow shoes to good use.

 David Verst, Elder

I grew up in Kentucky and married my high school sweetheart in 1995. Our next stop was to Ohio for five years, where we had three children. We had a short stay in San Francisco and eventually landed in Hailey, Idaho. We have lived in Idaho since 2001 and had three more children with ages ranging from 21 to 11. We began worshipping at Calvary Bible Church in 2002 and I now serve as an elder. I spend most of my free time with my family. My hobbies include fitness activities, working with metal and wood, gardening and reading.
